Summer Storm Causes Power Outage in Cottage Grove Home?

6/27/2023 (Permalink)

Powerlines and a large tree are down after a summer storm. We are leaders in storm damage restoration services in Lane County.

Summer storms can cause property damage to homes and businesses in Cottage Grove. Our Springfield and East Lane County teams are on call to respond to storm damage 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Federal Food and Drug Administration urges people to take these steps to preserve their food and water before and during storms as follows:

Before a Storm: Prepare for unpredictable weather emergencies. Have these supplies on hand:

  • Thermometers in the freezer and refrigerator
  • Containers of ice to keep food cold or to melt if the water supply is contaminated or unavailable
  • Coolers, frozen gel packs, and dry ice to keep refrigerated food at or below 40 degrees Fahrenheit and frozen food at or below zero degrees Fahrenheit if power is out for more than 4 hours
  • Bottled water
  • Nonperishable food high on shelves, in case of flood
  • Manual can opener
  • Bleach for disinfecting

During a Storm: Keep food at recommended temperatures. Keep in mind that perishable food such as meat, poultry, seafood, milk, and eggs not kept at recommended temperatures can make you sick—even if thoroughly cooked.

Do not eat or drink anything that has touched flood water, including food packed in non-metal containers.
